Are paint pens permanent and waterproof? Paint pens are filled with acrylic paint, which is permanent and waterproof when dry. It won’t wash off once it has dried onto a surface. However, you can still remove the paint with acetone, methylated spirits or rubbing alcohol when dry. This will strip the paint.
