Master the element of the unknown with scratch art paper! Scratch art paper and scratchboard art let you create images by scratching through a black coating over coloured paper. The layer of black foil on top is scratched away to reveal the colour underneath. Scratch art paper is available in many colours, including holographic, rainbow, gold, silver, blue and white. You can also colour in your lines with ink afterwards. We sell a variety of scratch art kits and paper. Let them inspire you to create your very best scratch art!
What is scratch art paper? Scratch art paper is a black-coated paper with a layer of bright colours underneath. You scratch at the black coating using a scratch tool to reveal these colours and create beautiful, vibrant artwork. Scratch art is a testing medium, but also one of the most rewarding.
What can I use for scratch art? The preferred tool is a scratcher, though you can make scratch art with any pointed tool. Scratchers are made from either plastic or wood. They look like small pencils, but they’re solid with a sharp tip on both ends. If you’re just getting started with scratch art, we recommend buying a scratch art kit. This will include your paper, scratching tools and sharpeners.
How does scratch paper work? Scratch paper is made from two layers. The bottom layer is paper coated with coloured pigment, and the top layer is a foil paper covered in black ink. You scratch off the black foil with a scratching tool, revealing the coloured paper beneath. It’s like drawing in reverse! The colour already exists on the paper—you just reveal it by scratching off the black coating into your favourite design.
