Trending Now: Unblocking Chakras with Art

Understanding chakras can lead to increased self-awareness, clarity, and creativity. They have been an avenue to improved physical and mental health for centuries and continue to be used in that fashion today. Part of maintaining good physical and emotional health is keeping your chakras unblocked. This allows your life energy to flow freely through every aspect of your body and mind. In this article, we’ll show you how using art can unblock your chakras and give you more artistic freedom than ever before!

What Are Chakras?

The chakras are seven energy points that align in a column from the pelvis to the top of the head. These energy points are like little generators, constantly spinning and creating the energy our body needs to be mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually balanced. In fact, the word “chakra” means “wheel” in ancient Sanskrit.

Each chakra is named to represent the area of the body it controls. Because of their locations, each chakra has a different meaning and influence. Additionally, each chakra is represented by a colour.

Where Are the Seven Chakras in Our Body?

The seven chakras run from the base of the spine, through the torso, neck, and face, to the top of the skull. Here are their locations, along with their meaning and colour.

Why Is It Important to Keep Chakras Open?

When the chakras are open and unblocked, their energy has a clear pathway throughout the regions in which they are nearest. This means that any organs, tissues, joints, or nerves in those areas stay functioning at full capacity and are as healthy as possible. The same goes for those chakras that affect thoughts and emotions. When these are open and clear, you are better able to focus and concentrate as well as be centered and rational.

On the other hand, when a chakra is blocked, you can feel the effects within its region of influence. This could present itself as a malfunction, aches, pains, or an increase in insecurity, anger, sadness, and anxiety.

It’s important to include ways to unblock your chakras in your daily life. This can be accomplished with meditation, yoga poses, deep breathing, crystals, and intentional art.

How to Unblock Chakras with Art

If you’ve noticed you keep using a particular colour in your art making, it may be a sign of a blocked chakra. To unblock that chakra, lean into its colour by applying it loosely while focusing on its meaning. For instance, if you keep using blue, the colour of the throat chakra, maybe you need to sit down and have a talk with someone about something that’s bothering you. If yellow keeps popping up, your solar plexus chakra is making itself known, telling you that you may need to gain more control of something in your life.

Unleash colourful Creativity with Meditation

Another way to use art to unblock chakras is to meditate before you begin. Use deep breathing to settle yourself and clear your mind. Envision each chakra in its place along your spine as a spinning disk of colour. Let the colours wash over and through you. When you begin your work, you should feel more focused and intentional about which colours to use.

Combining Mandalas & Chakras

Mandalas are also a great way to unblock chakras. These circular, spiritual symbols represent the universe. Their intricate interior designs combined with the meanings and colours of the chakras creates an interactive experience that can clear chakras and increase creativity. In fact, each chakra has a symbol, much like a mandala. If you find one of your chakras is blocked, it may be helpful to find its symbol on the internet, print it out and then using its colour, fill it in.
