What is the best brush pen for beginners? Arteza’s Real Brush Pens are perfect for beginners. How do I prevent my brush pen from fraying? Brush pens have a nylon nib that’s designed to last as long as the ink in the cartridge, so it should not fray before the ink runs out. However, it may fray if you hold it incorrectly. You should hold your brush pen at an angle so the tip can move flexibly. Painting on highly textured paper can also cause fraying, so we recommend using smooth paper, such as watercolour paper.
Do brush pens bleed? Brush pens can bleed on thinner paper, so you should paint on 80 gsm paper at minimum. You can avoid bleeding by performing clean, consistent strokes. If you do notice bleeding, then you may be working too slowly or your paper is too thin. Be sure to check out our watercolour paper to minimise bleeding.
