Palette Pads

Why should I choose a palette paper pad? Palette paper is bleed-proof, disposable paper that you use for mixing your paint. The major benefit of using a palette paper pad is that you can tear off the used page from your pad and throw it away, leaving you with a new sheet of paper for a fresh palette. This makes life easier by saving you precious time when cleaning up.

What type of palette pad is used in oil painting? Oil paint is thick and heavy, so it needs a sturdy bleed-proof paper to hold it. If you’re also using a palette knife, it needs to be pretty strong. We recommend a minimum paper weight of 80 gsm for oil paint, and we have several pads of palette paper that meet this specification. The paper you use should be white and smooth.

What's the best paper palette for acrylic paints? Our advice for oil paint applies to acrylic paint, as well. An 80 gsm palette paper will hold your acrylics, but remember that not all paper is suitable for use as a palette—it needs to be bleed-proof and smooth. Smooth paper is best because you want the paint to pick up readily on your brush.
