What is acrylic paint used for? Acrylic paint is used for a range of projects by beginners and experts alike. It’s a popular option for canvas and clothing, as acrylic paint dries quickly and absorbs quite readily. You can also apply acrylic paint to paper, card, wood, MDF, plastic, metal, ceramic, and clay. It can be poured for abstract pieces with a textural quality or used in simple arts and crafts, as well—there's no end to the possibilities!

How do you seal acrylic paint? You can seal and preserve acrylic paint by applying a water-based sealant. Two popular options for this are polyurethane and polycrylic. Your choice between the two will depend on your project and preferences. Polyurethane is resistant to both heat and water, while polycrylic’s advantage comes from being fast to dry and easy to clean, with a bit less odour.

How do you liquefy acrylic paint? If the paint is too thick for your needs, it can be liquefied using water or an additive. To liquefy with water, squeeze the acrylic from your paint tube onto a clean surface. Dip your paintbrush into a cup of water and gently apply to the paint. Carefully work the water into the paint, adding more if necessary to reach your desired viscosity. Liquefying acrylic using an additive is a similar process—simply squeeze out a small amount and gently mix with your paint until you reach the right consistency.
